May. 12th, 2007 @ 10:46 pm Jumping the tracks{cross posting}
Current Mood: blahblah
On my way home from shopping earlier I was at 5points train station and waiting on the west bound train....the east bound train approaches on the other side far away from where I was, some dude who I guess was on the wrong side decided he wasn't gonna do the right and smart thing and that was find his way over to the east bound side, instead he jumps onto the track hops over to the side where the east bound train was. I mean they were single tracking the east/west tracks, but it's not that serious.

I have never seen anyone jump the tracks...ever! I really didn't wanna see a fatality.

What an incredibly stupid thing for the guy to do. Just because they were single tracking doesn't mean that the third rail wasn't electrified. It's about a dumb as the motorcyclists who drive one handed through the CruiseCard lanes on GA400 so they can cover their license plate with the other hand. To save fifty cents, they risk their lives just like the idiot you mentioned risked his life in order to not miss the train and have to wait for the next one.

If both east and west bound trains were arriving on the same track, MARTA should have blocked off the stairs leading to the other platform. That doesn't excuse his stupidity in jumping the track but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

they weren't...he was just assumed he was on the east bound side I guess.

Actually, I've seen them block off one of the sides @ 5 points b4.

Some people go to some extremes to ride Marta. Actually that is what makes it so fun to ride tho'
